Defending Democracy in the Disinformation Era

Speaker: Liz Wahl

Disinformation has infected the internet and people's minds to the point that we can not even agree on a common reality. Meanwhile, democracies are imperiled by a deluge of disinformation spread by political extremists and hostile foreign powers. How do we defend democracy in an unprecedented era of disinformation?

Liz Wahl is an American journalist and speaker. She has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Bloomberg, and several international news outlets and documentaries. From 2011 to 2014, she was a correspondent and anchor for the U.S. branch of RT TV and made international headlines following her on-air resignation from the channel, publicly denouncing its distorted coverage of the conflict in Ukraine and Russian intervention in Crimea. Wahl has spoken internationally about modern day propaganda, digital disinformation, and media literacy.
